The various professional sports teams located in Dallas

Dallas, Texas is known as a typical southern town with plenty of southern beauties and good guys who love their hometown and are proud to frequently use the term, everything is bigger in Texas. Texans love their sports and the city of Dallas has a great selection of professional sports to watch, including the Dallas Cowboys football team, the Dallas Mavericks NBA team, The Dallas Stars hockey team, and the FC football team. Because there are no major college sports teams in the Dallas city limits, its professional teams have a large fan base, especially the Dallas Cowboys, as football is king in Texas according to a Frisco attorney.

The Dallas Cowboys have often been referred to as “America’s Team” and have won five Super Bowl championships. They currently play in the newly built Cowboy Stadium which was completed in 2009 and is located in Arlington, just outside of Dallas. Due to the enormous loyalty of their fans, they have had the most tickets of any NFL team and was said by Forbes magazine to be the richest NFL team with the highest earnings. For basketball fans, fans can go see the Dallas Mavericks play at Reunion Arena. They are a fairly new team, as the old NBA team in the Dallas area was the Dallas Chaparrals, which later became the San Antonio Spurs. The Mavericks started in 1980 under first head coach Dick Motta. Some of the best known Mavericks players have been Jay Vincent, Derek Harper and Tim Hardaway. Current player Jason Kidd has the largest fan base.

Also sharing space at Reunion Arena is the Dallas Stars National Hockey League team. The team started out in 1967 as the Minnesota North Stars and moved to Dallas in 1993, where they changed their name to just the Stars. They have had a strong playing record winning the President’s Cup twice, which is awarded to the team with the best overall record. They also won the coveted Stanley Cup championship in 2005 against the Buffalo Sabers in front of a sold-out crowd at their hometown track.

The last professional team in Dallas is called FC Dallas and is the Major League Soccer team there. Their full name is Football Club Dallas and they are based in Frisco which is a suburb of Dallas and was formerly known as the Dallas Burn which started in 1996. They play at Pizza Hut Park which is a newly built stadium made just for soccer and has more than 20,000 fans.
